As an artist, I’m telling myself daily that I don’t need to reinvent the wheel. I tend to feel like if I don’t make something Van Gogh level that I’ve somehow failed. Even Van Gogh had pieces that weren’t great but he didn’t stop. It stinks when you have a piece that just isn’t right, or your heart feels like everyone will hate it, or it just sits there & doesn’t sell. But I’m reminding my self daily of a quote I heard awhile back…

“Don’t reinvent the wheel, just realign it.”

Anthony J. D’Angelo

Now, I know that isn’t the most profound quote there is but it stuck with me. I think about it often especially when I’m trying to work though some things. Like with this piece here….

It was never my favorite. I couldn’t put my finger on what I wanted to change but I knew something needed to change. I didn’t want to paint over it completely, there were parts that I loved so I didn’t need to start completely over, I didn’t need to create something completely new, I just needed to “realign it”.

Thankfully I did. This piece turned out to be one of my all time favorites. I didn’t need to paint over it completely, I didn’t need to start over with something completely different. There was no need to reinvent the wheel, I just needed to realign it.

So much amazing texture. Faithful is now available & would be a beautiful addition to your home!
