Let’s just jump right into it, let me show you how I painted this heavy textured painting. Now, let me just say that I know I’m not the best at teaching because I have no rhyme or reason to what I do sometimes. The majority of the time I just winging it BUT I can at least SHOW you how I painted this beauty.

After I applied the texture to where I wanted it I painted a white base coat. After that I started in with some grays & blues BUT I applied them with a paper towel, to really get it worked into the texture. I know what you’re thinking, paper towels? But yes. I really wanted the paint worked into the crevasse and some just sitting on top of the texture & the paper towels were allowing that flexibility.

Then I grabbed my roller that I talked about in my last blog post A Few of My Favorite Tools to apply some darker colors to the outside edges & to lightly apply to the tops of my texture. I added some white in & smoothed it out with the roller. The roller adds a texture but it can also be used to smooth out colors. it just depends on how you use it.

I just keep going back & forth with the colors I wanted until I got it where I wanted it! Going between working in paint with a paper towel & the roller… Here’s the finished piece!
